Basic Requirements:
  • Looking for a gun video editor for online content (social networks and marketing funnels)
  • Knows how to cut engaging short form content (Facebook/Instagram/Youtube/TikTok)
  • Knows how to cut engaging long form content (edutainment free training videos)
  • Understands the power of different hooks to grab and hold attention
  • Understands pacing, structure, music, graphics, animations
  • Understands how to tailor content to a specific platform and placement
  • Can problem solve when raw footage/audio is not great
  • Strong communication skills (structuring narratives, cutting out filler words and stitching sentences together, adding titles and subtitles, communicating with the team via Slack and Zoom)
  • Capable of shortening a 30 min interview into a 10 minute video 
  • Highly proficient inside Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Can colour correct and grade the final edit

Example workflow
  • Editing a new ad
  • Here is the footage and script
  • Create a 1:1 video ad for Facebook and Instagram advertising (max 90 seconds)
  • Banner at the top, subtitles at the bottom (see style guide)
  • If ad successful, create four new variations of the original video using a different hook in the opening 3 - 5 seconds and re submit
  • Now cut this video for IG feed, IG show reel, FB feed, TikTok, Youtube shorts
  • Update content calendar
  • Track the watch stats and engagement

  2. Provide a portfolio of video editing examples that demonstrate your ability to perform video editing as per the cited examples
  3. Create a 90 second video edit some text
    1. Download and use this talk to camera clip as the basis of the edit
    2. Use music, titles, subtitles, animations and graphics to enhance the final result
    3. Deliver the edit using 1:1 aspect ratio for FB/IG advertising
  4. Once you are done, create a 1-2min Loom video sharing your screen with video editor program open and talk through your video editing decisions
